The Radisson Blu Polar Hotel Spitsbergen is centrally located in Longyearbyen, yet close to the surrounding nature. Here you get to enjoy beautiful views, close proximity to the town center, and comfortable hotel facilities. Cuddle up in front of the fireplace in the lobby, whilst enjoying a hot drink after a long day of adventure. Or how about taking a relaxing bath in the hotel's jacuzzi?
Inside the hotel you will find Barentz Gastropub, where we invite you for a dinner. This is a favourite spot among locals as well as visitors. You can look forward to good food in a relaxed atmosphere, and a rich selection of both local and imported beverages.
We want you to be able to make the most of your Svalbard adventure, and are therefore offering three different included activities for you to choose from. The Isfjord safari to the bird cliffs is one of our most popular tours, taking you in specially designed Polarcirkel boats to the foot of the Fuglefjella cliffs, which soar to about 500 metres above your heads. Swarms of migratory birds make this area their home in the summer, and you will be amazed at the countless numbers in the air and in the cliffs. Later in the season, from mid-August, we shift our focus on this tour to the history of the region, and see the remnants of earlier settlements like Grumant, once home to over 1000 Soviet miners. Alternatively, you may choose to join our guides on an electric bicycle tour of Longyearbyen and the surrounding area. This informative and fun tour lets you explore the local area and stretch your legs – while the electric motor helps you with any strenuous uphill areas! Finally, you may prefer to choose the Dogs & the sea activity, where our guides take you out on large wagons, pulled by 12-14 happy huskies. As the guide drives you along the coast past Vestpynten, they will point out areas of interest, and any wildlife that may pop up. Keep your eyes peeled, as you may see Svalbard reindeer, polar foxes and migratory birds in this area.
Should you choose, you can also make the most of your tour by adding selected extra activities at the same time as you book your package, and receive 10% discount on these tours:
-Dog sledding on wheels
-Isfjord safari towards the von Post Glacier
-Hike to Foxonna
-Hike to Sarkofagen
-Fossil-hunting with pack dog
-Hike from Sea to Summit
-Arctic Sea Fishing (late August and September)
