Radisson Blu Polar Hotel Spitsbergen is located in the heart of Longyearbyen. The hotel reopened after major renovations in February 2019, and is a perfect place to stay for both family, couples and friends. In the hotel lobby you can relax in the lounge in front of the fireplace, and enjoy a hot drink after a long day of adventure.
Afraid of missing out? You can register for a "northern lights call" at the reception. In case there is northern lights activity during the night, the reception team will notify you. We always do our best to make your Svalbard experience complete.
Included in this package offer are many culinary treats in the hotel's restaurant. In Restaurant Nansen, the concept centers around Nordic Fusion, with a menu inspired by the Arctic region. You can look forward to a delightful culinary experience in an elegant, yet relaxed atmosphere.
The Northern lights over Svalbard can be seen 24 hours a day during the polar night. Camp Barentz is perfectly located far away from all the light pollution, which offers the perfect conditions for experiencing Svalbard's magnificent nature and the northern lights. You will be picked up at the hotel by bus and driven out of town, towards the camp. As we arrive in front of the lovely wooden cabins, you will be greeted by your host for the evening.
Here you will be served something good to drink, delicious homemade reindeer stew, coffee and dessert. After dinner, it is time to learn a little more about the green magical lights on the sky. We gather around the fire, and the host will tell about the incredible phenomenon. If the conditions allow for it, we end the evening by experiencing the northern lights with our own eyes outside the cabin.
Between mid November and late January, it is polar night on Svalbard. This gives you the opportunity to see the northern lights - even in the middle of the day! The daytime Aurora are slightly weaker than what occurs at night, but with its more reddish tint it is a fascinating sight!
Northern Lights safaris with electric snowmobiles are exotic, and at the same time convenient because we are close to Longyearbyen. The journey goes in to Adventdalen, in search of northern lights. Away from the city and light pollution, chances are good to get a glimpse of it. Read more about the tour here.
